Community Outreach

Overview

As volunteering hours are a graduation requirement, as well as what we are called to do as Christians, Pitt-Johnstown Catholic Campus Ministry is proud to have generated more volunteering hours during the 2018-2019 school year than any other organization on campus! This includes a yearly week long mission trip, Bible studies at nursing homes on the weekends, freshman move-in days, clothing drives, and retreats for local high schools.

Mission Trip

In early May 2019, students embarked on a week long mission trip to Camden, New Jersey. Students served the homeless food at Camden's historic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Students also assisted in picking up litter in different neighborhoods of the community. Students assisted a local Catholic School by planting a garden, tutoring, and playing with children.

Students also completed yard work at both a local homeless shelter and attended meetings for Alcoholics Anonymous to truly experience the struggles faced by the city of Camden.

In May 2020, CCM plans on going to the Germantown district of Philadelphia to volunteer. Contact us for more information!
